Using Floating Text Fields in Documents & Contracts

Floating text fields are a powerful feature that enables the creation of dynamic, fillable documents and contracts. With these fields, you can add customizable elements like signatures, text fields, and dates, giving your documents more flexibility and functionality. This guide will show you how to use floating text fields effectively within Advisor's Growth.

How to Use Floating Text Fields

Step 1: Navigate to Documents and Contracts

  • In the left-hand menu, go to Payments and select Documents and Contracts.

Step 2: Select or Upload Your Template

  • At the top of the page, choose Templates.

  • You can either upload a PDF template or create a new document from scratch.
For this guide, we’ll use an uploaded PDF.

Step 3: Adding Fillable Fields

  • Click on the plus (+) button in the top-left corner.

  • You’ll see options for fillable fields, including signature, text field, and date.

Step 4: Customizing Fillable Fields

  • Drag and drop the required field onto the appropriate location in the document.

    • For example, place the date field where the date should be entered, or drag the signature field to the designated signature line.

Step 5: Adjusting and Moving Fields

  • Resize fields to fit the document layout.

  • Move the fields by clicking and dragging, or use the shift and arrow keys for precise movements.

  • For faster movement, use shift + control along with the arrow keys.

Step 6: Adding Custom Values and Assigning Signatures

  • Hover over each field to reveal a menu where you can copy, delete, or add custom values.

  • For example, you could add a text field for "Company Name" and set it as required.

  • Customize properties like the date format (e.g., year, month, day) and choose whether it should accept any date, past dates, or future dates.

  • Assign specific contacts to sign the contract.

Step 7: Assigning Multiple Signatures

  • If the document requires signatures from multiple people, assign a signature field to each contact.

  • Hover over the name tag to see which contact is assigned to each signature field.

Use Cases for Floating Text Fields

  1. Business Contracts
Easily create business contracts requiring signatures from multiple stakeholders. Assign fields to each individual, ensuring all necessary information is captured and validated.

  2. Lease Agreements
Customize lease agreements by adding fields for tenant and landlord signatures, date fields, and terms and conditions, providing a consistent and clear document for all parties.

  3. Employment Contracts
Draft employment contracts with fields for employee details, job roles, start dates, and signatures for both the employee and employer, ensuring all relevant data is included.

  4. Service Agreements
Create service agreements with fields for the scope of services, payment terms, and signatures for both the service provider and client, ensuring agreement on all terms.

  5. Client Onboarding Forms
Use fillable fields to create onboarding forms that capture key information like client names, company names, contact details, and authorization signatures.

By following these steps, you can create flexible and professional documents tailored to your business needs, improving the efficiency and accuracy of your contracts and forms.
