Subscriptions Tab in Your Payments Section: A Comprehensive Overview

In this article, we'll explore the features and functionalities of the Subscription Tab within the Payments section of Advisor's Growth.

Part 1: Overview

To access the Subscriptions Tab, go to Payments > Subscriptions. In this section, you'll find:

  • Payment Provider and Subscription ID: Details about the payment provider and the unique identifier for the subscription.

  • Customer Details: Information about the customer associated with the subscription.

  • Source of Subscription Creation: The origin or method through which the subscription was created.

  • Date of Creation: The date when the subscription was initiated.

  • Subscription Amount: The monetary value of the subscription.

  • Status of Subscription: The current status of the subscription.

Part 2: Section Inclusions

This tab provides:

  • Information on the payment provider and the subscription's creation source.

  • Details of any subsequent transactions related to the subscription.

Note: You can send customers a link to update their payment method for ongoing subscriptions. This feature simplifies the management of payment details and reduces the likelihood of transaction failures. Access this option through the quick action menu on the subscription list page or the Actions section on the subscription detail page.

Part 3: Understanding Subscription Statuses

Subscription statuses and their meanings include:

  • Pending: The initial transaction for the subscription has not been completed, or the subscription is under merchant review

  • Trial: The subscription is currently in a trial phase.

  • Active: The subscription is active, with the last payment processed and future payments scheduled.

  • Expired: All payments for the subscription are complete, and the subscription is no longer valid.

  • Canceled: The subscription has been canceled by the merchant, and no further payments will be processed.

  • Unpaid: The last payment attempt failed, but the subscription is still active. Subsequent payment retries are ongoing.

Cancellation Policy: Subscriptions can be canceled based on their status:

  • Pending: No cancellation.

  • Trial: Yes.

  • Active: Yes.

  • Expired: No.

  • Canceled: No.

  • Unpaid: Yes.

Cancellation actions are available for subscriptions created with Authorize.net and Network Merchants Inc. Stripe and PayPal subscription cancellations will be integrated soon.

Subscription Status Handling and Payment Retry Logic

Here's how subscription statuses and payment retries are managed:

  1. Initial Payment Success: Moves the subscription to "Active" or "Trial" if applicable.

  2. Ongoing Payments: The subscription remains "Active" as long as payments are successful.

  3. Payment Failures: If a payment fails, the subscription status changes to "Unpaid," and the system will attempt to retry the payment twice, with 24-hour intervals between attempts.

  4. Retries: If any retry is successful, the subscription status will revert to "Active." If not, the status will remain "Unpaid" until the retries are exhausted, after which it will move to "Expired."

  5. Gateway Disconnection: If the gateway account is disconnected, the subscription will move to "Unpaid," and retries will follow the standard retry logic.

Subscriptions created via Authorize.net and Network Merchants Inc. can be canceled directly from the Subscriptions page using the 'Cancel Subscription' action.

Note: Automatic Recurring Billing with Authorize.net or NMI is not used for subscription creation, so only transaction charges related to the subscription will be visible in the merchant portal.

Integration with Stripe and PayPal

  • Stripe: Subscription status and payments are synchronized with your Stripe dashboard. Cancellations and payment updates on Stripe will reflect in your Advisor's Growth dashboard.

  • PayPal: Subscriptions created in PayPal won't automatically sync upcoming payments with Advisor's Growth. You'll need to manually track subscriptions created via PayPal in the Payments ➝ Subscriptions section.
