How to Utilize RSS Feeds in the Email Builder
In this guide, you’ll learn how to incorporate RSS Feeds into the Advisor's Growth email builder and send RSS-based email campaigns automatically.
What Are RSS Elements?
The RSS elements in the email builder enable you to send automated emails containing dynamic content each time a new item is published in your RSS feed. These elements help pull content directly from your RSS feed, ensuring your audience receives the latest updates.
RSS Header Element
The RSS Header element dynamically populates <channel> tags from your RSS feed. You can use custom values to display the corresponding RSS tag values in your email content.
Basic vs. Custom in the RSS Header
When working with the RSS Header element, you’ll have two editing options:
Basic Mode: Automatically adds non-editable text in the editor.
html
Copy code
<h1 class="h1">{{rss_feed.title}}</h1>
{{rss_feed.description}}<br /><br />
Custom Mode: Allows you to modify the text in the editor.
html
Copy code
Updates from {{rss_feed.url}}
<h1>{{rss_feed.title}}</h1>
<strong>{{rss_feed.description}}</strong><br /><br />
<strong>In the {{rss_feed.date}} edition:</strong><br />
Note: You can also use four custom RSS <channel> variables within the subject line for additional personalization.
RSS Items Element
The RSS Items element accepts custom values and will dynamically insert corresponding RSS tags. This feature supports the inclusion of thumbnails using the media group tags in RSS feeds, making your emails more visually appealing.
Scheduling RSS Email Campaigns
Using RSS in your campaigns allows you to automatically send updates whenever new blog posts or content are published on your site. You can configure these emails to send periodically, such as daily, weekly, or monthly, providing your audience with consistent updates based on missed content.
Understanding RSS
RSS, or "Really Simple Syndication," refers to XML files that are automatically read by computers to update information across websites. It’s a powerful way to keep your audience informed without manual updates.
Part 1: Creating an RSS Email Campaign
Go to Marketing > Email > Email Campaign.
Click Create Campaign.
Select the email template you want to use.
Use the email builder tools to design and customize your email.
Once you’ve finished, click Send or Schedule to finalize your campaign.
Part 2: Pre-Sending Checklist
Select the RSS option under the Sending Options on the left-hand side.
Add your RSS Feed URL.
Choose your delivery frequency: Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.
Set the time the RSS email campaign will be sent.
Uncheck the days you don’t want the email to be sent.
On the right-hand side, fill in the recipient details under the To section, provide the sender's email address in the From section, add your name in the Name section, and input your subject line and preview text.
Important Notes:
Double-check the scheduled execution date, time, and time zone before confirming the campaign.
You can reschedule or delete the campaign. If you need to reschedule, click Reschedule and adjust the date and time. Note that you can reschedule up to an hour before the email is sent.
RSS email campaigns also have a Pause option. To pause a campaign, go to Actions and click Pause.
