CC and BCC Features in the Email Composer

Our email composer comes equipped with CC (Carbon Copy) and BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) functionalities, allowing you to engage multiple recipients effectively. These features provide a flexible way to manage email communications, ensuring stakeholders are involved either openly or confidentially. With these capabilities, you can improve communication efficiency and maintain control over who sees what in an email thread.

What is CC and BCC?

  • CC (Carbon Copy): This allows you to send an email to additional recipients aside from those in the To field. All email addresses in the CC field are visible to everyone who receives the email.

  • BCC (Blind Carbon Copy): This sends the email to additional recipients while keeping their email addresses hidden from everyone else, including the primary and CC’d recipients.

Use Cases for CC and BCC

  • Project Updates: Keep stakeholders, such as managers or other departments, informed by placing them in the CC field when sending updates to team members.

  • Customer Communication: In customer service, CC can be used to keep supervisors or other teams in the loop without direct involvement in the conversation.

  • Confidential Matters: Use BCC for private communications, like informing HR while emailing a staff member.

  • Mass Emails: Send announcements or newsletters to many recipients using BCC to protect recipient privacy.

  • Vendor Communication: CC all vendors in an email to foster transparency while addressing the primary message to one vendor.

How to Use CC and BCC in the Email Composer

  1. Creating a New Email or Replying to an Email:

    • Navigate to the Conversations area and click New Email or select an existing conversation to reply to.

  2. Locating CC and BCC Fields:

    • In the email composer, you'll find the CC and BCC fields next to the regular To field. If the fields aren't visible, highlight the CC/BCC option to reveal them.

  3. Adding Recipients:

    • Click on the CC or BCC field and type in the email addresses. You can select addresses from the dropdown or manually type in new ones.

  4. Collapsing the Fields:

    • Once you've added your recipients, click on the CC/BCC field again to collapse it. All entered recipients will be saved.

  5. Syncing Changes:

    • Any changes made to the email recipients in the composer will be reflected in Gmail, Outlook, and other integrated systems (2-way sync).

  6. Replying to Emails:

    • When replying to an email with CC/BCC recipients, you can choose Reply All to maintain the communication thread. However, CC/BCC recipients cannot be removed mid-conversation.
