How to Customize the Membership Welcome Email Using Membership Settings or Workflows
When a new member creates their account, you have a few options for sending them their login credentials. Customizing this welcome email can enhance the member's experience. Follow the steps below to explore the different customization options:
Option 1: System-Generated Email Using a Template
Step 1: Enable the Welcome Email
Go to Memberships > Settings and toggle on the "Send Welcome Email" option.
Step 2: Choose or Create a Template
Select a template from the dropdown list.
Note:The default template is not editable or viewable unless you test it.
To create a custom welcome email, you’ll need to design your own template, incorporating custom values for personalization.
Step 3: Save Your Settings
Once you’ve selected your template, save your changes.
Important:This option sends an automated email containing login credentials when a member completes the offer checkout. Customizing the email can be done through the Email Builder, where you can save your personalized template.
Option 2: Create a Workflow to Send a Customized Email
Step 1: Navigate to Workflows
Go to Automation > Workflows.
Step 2: Create or Edit a Workflow
Either create a new workflow or modify an existing one.
Step 3: Set Up the Workflow Trigger
Choose the "Membership New Signup" trigger to initiate the workflow when a new member signs up.
Step 4: Add the Email Action
Select the action to send an email.
Step 5: Customize Your Email Content
Enter the necessary details such as From Name, Email, Subject, and either select a template or write your own email content.
Step 6: Use Custom Values for Personalization
When using the "Membership New Signup" trigger, you’ll have access to new custom values specific to membership contacts. These values are found at the bottom of the Custom Values list, just above your unique custom values. Include the email and password values in the email body where needed.
Step 7: Disable the System-Generated Email (Optional)
If you choose to use this workflow-based option, make sure to turn off the system-generated email from Option 1 to prevent both emails from being sent to new members.
