How to Add a Tag to a New Contact List Import

Adding tags to contact records is an effective way to keep your contacts organized. When importing a new list of contacts, you may want to include one or more tags for all or some of the contacts in that list. Below are two methods for tagging contacts during the import process.

Option 1: Adding Multiple or Unique Tags to Specific Contacts

This method is ideal when you need to apply different tags to various contacts within your import list.

1. Prepare Your .CSV File:

   • In your .csv file, create a column titled "Tags."

   • For each contact, enter the tags you want to apply, separating them with commas.

2. Example: In the image below, the tag "Test1" would be applied to all 4 contacts during the import, while the second tag, "TestTag," would be applied only to the first 2 contacts.

3. Import the List:

   • During the import, the system will automatically create and apply these tags to the relevant contacts.

Option 2: Adding One or More Tags to the Entire List

This method is recommended when you want to apply the same tag(s) to all contacts in the list being imported.

1. Start the Import Process:

   • Begin importing your list as usual.

2. Add Tags in the Details Section:

   • In Step 3, titled "Details," you can add one or more tags to the entire list.

   • You can either select existing tags or create new ones directly within the import section.

3. Example: The tag "ThisIsATest" would be added to all contacts in the imported list.

4. Complete the Import:

   • Proceed with the import, and the tags will be applied to all contacts in your list.

Using these options within Advisor's Growth, you can efficiently manage and organize your contacts by applying tags during the import process. Whether you need specific tags for individual contacts or a general tag for the entire list, these methods offer flexibility and ease of use.
