How to Set Up and Run Split Testing in Funnels with Advisor's Growth
Split testing, also known as A/B testing, is a powerful marketing strategy used to improve your funnels by analyzing which variations of your pages yield better conversion rates. This process allows you to test different elements like messaging, design, and layout to determine which version performs best.
What is Split Testing?
Split testing helps you refine your funnels by experimenting with different versions of a page to see which one converts more leads or sales. You can decide the percentage of traffic that will be directed to each version (e.g., 50% to version A and 50% to version B). Over time, you can analyze the performance of each version and decide which one is more effective.
Step 1: Creating a Split Test
Access Your Funnel:
Log in to Advisor's Growth and navigate to the Funnels section.
Either create a new funnel or open an existing one where you want to set up the split test.
Choose the Funnel Step:
Select the specific step within the funnel where you want to create a split test.
Create a Variation:
Click on Create Variation. You’ll be given two options:
Duplicate Version: This will clone your existing control page, allowing you to make minor adjustments (like layout, color, or design changes).
Create from Blank: This option allows you to start with a completely new page.
Typically, you’ll want to start with a duplicate version to test slight modifications against your original control page.
Step 2: Running a Split Test
Preview Both Pages:
After creating your variation, preview both the control and the variation pages. For instance, you might have changed colors, fonts, or other stylistic elements on the variation page.
Set Traffic Distribution:
Decide how you want to split the incoming traffic between the control and variation pages. Use the slider to adjust the percentage and then click Apply Changes to save your settings.
Use the Updated Link:
Utilize the new funnel link that is generated for your split test. Once a user’s device is cookied, they will consistently see the same version they initially visited. If you want to view the other version, try opening the link in a different browser, incognito mode, or on a different device.
Analyze Results:
After some time, you can view the statistics for both pages to see which one has a higher conversion rate.
If you’re satisfied with the results, hover over the winning page and click Declare this as Winner. This action will promote the winning page to the control position and remove the other variation (a confirmation popup will appear before you proceed).
Restore Previous Versions:
If you accidentally delete a page or want to restore a previous split test page, go to the archived pages section at the bottom and click Restore to recover the old version.
Split testing is a great way to ensure that your funnel is optimized for the best possible results, allowing you to continually improve your marketing strategies with data-driven decisions.
