Card Authorization for Subscriptions and Payment Plans

How Card Authorization Works:

Utilizing the Card Authorization feature is a smart way to protect your business by ensuring that funds are available before providing a service or product. This feature verifies the availability of funds on a customer's card when the card information is submitted, even if the total amount isn't charged immediately.

Why It's Important:

For instance, if you offer a 7-day free trial followed by a $100.00 charge on the 8th day, without card authorization, the free trial could still be granted even if the necessary funds aren't available in the customer’s account. However, with the authorization feature enabled, Advisor's Growth will verify that the funds are available before granting access to the trial, ensuring that the $100.00 can be collected when due.

The same principle applies to payment plans. For example, if you're selling a $150.00 product split into three $50.00 installments, the card authorization will check if the customer has the full $150.00 available before the first installment is charged. This helps protect your business by confirming that the customer can meet their payment obligations.

Setting Up Card Authorization:

Follow these steps to implement custom card authorization for your products:

  1. Navigate to Funnels/Websites: Choose the funnel or website where you want to apply the authorization.

  2. Go to the Products Tab: Access the specific funnel step or website page where the product is listed.

  3. Edit or Add a Product: Click "Edit" to modify an existing product or "+ Add Product" to introduce a new one.

  4. Set the Product Price: If adding a new product, select the appropriate product and price.

  5. Configure Additional Options: In the product settings, scroll down to the “Custom Authorization” field.

  6. Enter Authorization Amount: Input the desired authorization amount, which must be greater than zero.

  7. Save Your Changes: Click "Save" to confirm the updated settings.

Important Notes:

  • The card authorization charge will appear separately on your payment provider’s platform (e.g., Stripe) and will be instantly refunded to the customer, as it serves as a test charge.

  • To use this feature, the product must have a recurring payment setup.

This feature not only helps ensure that funds are available but also enhances the reliability of your billing process, providing peace of mind for both you and your customers.
